Former foster children embark on a moving journey into their past together with their own children. They search through archives, old photo albums and documents, encountering powerful authorities, deeply rooted prejudices and overwhelmed families along the way. Gradually, a social system comes into focus that enabled violence and exclusion across generations. Filmmaker Corinne Kuenzli accompanies those affected and their relatives. The result is a sensitive documentary about coming to terms with the past, fostering understanding across generations and finding a path towards a more hopeful present.
