Born for Korn streaming

A fifth-generation family-run farm in northern Schleswig-Holstein is taking new paths: Independent farmers with independent ideas! With each generational change, the number of family-run farms in Germany is halved. Many are swallowed up by large industrialized operations, which now manage almost two-thirds of the cultivated land. The loss of a centuries-old tradition is looming. The picturesque and secluded farm of the Sierck family in Fuhlreit is one of these small operations. Father Jörn is a farmer and dairy farmer in the fifth generation. His wife Gunda takes care of the on-farm dairy and the successful direct sales. They consciously consider how the farm must be structured in the future to provide for the families who will manage it in the sixth generation. In this film portrait, the family not only deals with questions about the future, but also shows a clear stance on animal welfare (which is their top priority), organic certifications (which means no medication for calves that would then die, so no), marketing strategies (independent and at fixed milk prices. After all, a farmer is also an entrepreneur), and much more. It is an intense examination of their own actions and their own values that makes up BORN FOR KORN. “Born for Korn” showcases a positive example of traditional agriculture, an antithesis to industrialized agribusiness.
